Here she is with my mum at her 8th grade graduation. Grandma did that with all her childrens, she also did portrait and family sessions.
I even have pictures with my grandparents (80 years ago). I can see them with genuine expression, a bit serious, with a good posture and posing as photographer required (not exacerbated emotions, just a hand on someones sholder or sitting on a chair if they're older).
I love those picture!
On the other side is my mum. She must have been 18-19 years old at that time. In my opinion she is beautiful :)
A friend took her picture. I won't bore you with photographic "details", BUT that branch....I can't get it out of my head.
Recently I've seen a survey: 80% of people wouldn't hire a professional photographer. I've never thought the percentage is so high. Compared to 80-100 years ago, nowadays photography is affordable.
So, what happend?
I guess bad exposure, composition or lighting, unwanted object in the background, lens distorsion, ugly shadows, poor quality prints etc became "minor details" and we don't see them anymore .
